Detroit Lakes Public Schools offers academic based extended year programming called SAIL (Success and Achievement in Learning!)
SUMMER SAIL OPPORTUNITIES
Summer SAIL is our academic and enrichment learning program offered by the district. It will include reading and math instruction, art, physical activities, social and emotional learning strategies, technology, cultural explorations, STEAM activities, and many out of classroom experiences!
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR DETROIT LAKES PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS
The following programs are offered by the Becker County Museum and there is funding available for up to 20 Detroit Lakes Public School students currently in grades 3-8. The registration is below each of the following sessions. Further information about the program will be provided to you by the Becker County Museum. BUILD YOUR OWN ROBOT: August 15-18
The Husky Express Mobile Classroom sponsored by TEAM Industries, brings a little bit of robotics and a WHOLE lot of building will challenge the beginner to advanced builders in this camp. Build an mBot robot to take home and play with, learn coding, assembly and more, come back next week and add things to it for even more fun while joining the field challenge. This camp involves small parts and basic skills like using simple tools.
CODING CAMP: August 8-11
Learn in the St. Cloud State University mobile classroom sponsored by TEAM Industries! Coding Camp, learn to code in various ways. Excellent for computing, robotics, and more. We will delve into multiple coding platforms as well as work with a laser engraver, virtual welder, virtual painter, 3D printer and more. Learning to code is a life skill and a stepping stone to almost all technology based things.
ART CAMP: August 22-25
Get ready for a little bit of messy and a lot of creativity! Students will create 3-5 art projects and expand their skills in mixed media, ceramics, mosaics and more!
